In Portsmouth on the 7th February 1812 Charles Dickens was born . when he was older he moved to Kent where he spent most of his life, besides some time living in London. He wrote the popular books and novel of victorian times, including Oliver tTwist, A tale of two cities and great expectations. He raised a family of ten children and their names were Kate, Henry, Alfred, Dora, Edward, Charles Jr, Francis, Walter, Mary and Sydney. However due to an unfortunate incident he died on the 9th of June 1870 and is buried in Westminster Abbey.

143 years and 8 months later was my 9th birthday where me and my family celebrated by going to Charles Dickens house which was at 48 Doughty St, London WC1N 2LX . while observing I saw his desk where he wrote some of his finest books, the servants room where they would sleep and eat, the kitchen and I peered into his massive garden.

Thomas John Barnardo (also known as Dr . Barnardo) was born in Dublin, Ireland 1845. He was born to John Michaelis Barnardo and his second wife, Abigail. Barnardo emigrated from Hamburg to Dublin where he married twice, and was a father to seven children including Syrie Maugham and Marjorie.

Barnardo studied medicine at the London hospital, then later at Edinburgh and Paris, where he became part of the Royal College of Surgeons. The work he carried along with his medical studies made him aware of the outrageous numbers of homeless and poor children. Therefore, the first of the ‘Dr . Barnardo Homes’ was opened at 18 Stepney Causeway, London. The reason for which these homes were started was to find homeless destitute children to feed, clothe and educate. Since then his work has steadily increased, helping children to this very day.
